A Day Without Anxiety
Share
The other morning, I didn’t check my phone right away.
It sounds like the beginning of a wellness cliché, I know—but that single choice changed my entire day.
The phone was on my nightstand, screen down. It buzzed once or twice, faintly calling me to the flood of messages and notifications, but I stayed under the covers, turned toward the slice of sunlight slipping through the curtains, and took five quiet breaths.
That was all. Just five breaths.
But it slowed something inside me.
Most mornings, I used to launch into the day like I was going to war—scrolling, tapping, replying, rushing. My whole nervous system operated on panic mode before I’d even had water. But that day, I chose something softer.
I made a cup of my own adaptogen tea blend—rose and passionflower, with a touch of ashwagandha. It tasted gently sweet, like a whisper to my body: “You don’t have to be so tense.”
Then I opened the window where I’d hung a lavender sachet the night before. The sunlight warmed it just enough to release its scent, and for a moment, I felt like I was living inside one of the little daydreams I used to sketch as a kid—a tiny room, some plants, and an atmosphere that says no one is rushing you.
Around noon, I went for a walk. No headphones. No TikTok. Just walking.
And you know what? Feeling the ground under my feet was strangely grounding.
Later I read about a concept in psychology called bottom-up regulation—which basically means your body can calm your brain.
Not the other way around.
That’s why deep breaths, warm showers, soft fabrics, or even standing in sunlight can ease your anxiety more effectively than a pep talk.
We’re not machines. We’re ecosystems. And our emotions are wired through every nerve, not just our thoughts.
I’ve tried a lot of ways to “manage” anxiety in the past—meditation apps, to-do lists, productivity hacks, even drinking black coffee at midnight to catch up on work.
But eventually, I realized something:
I didn’t need more control.
I needed permission.
Permission to slow down. To be tired. To not be excellent.
Permission to leave space in my day.
To let the anxiety pass through me, without making it king.
That’s part of why I started GW sense room.
I didn’t want to build some big, trendy wellness empire.
I just wanted to create small tools for people like me—people who are trying to be okay.
A sachet you can carry in your pocket? That’s my emotional anchor.
A cup of gentle tea in the morning? That’s my way of saying hello to myself.
Magnesium oil before bed? That’s my love letter to the nights I couldn’t sleep.
I’m not selling “solutions.”
I’m offering a softer way to exist.
And that night, when I turned off the lights, I didn’t feel accomplished.
I just felt… calm.
Like I had finally experienced a day that wasn’t about escaping something.
A day with no rush, no battle, no inbox fire to put out.
I even remembered how the sun felt on my ankle at 3PM. That tiny detail—that’s what I’d been missing in all those “productive” days before.
So, would you be willing to try it too—just for one day?
Don’t check your phone right away.
Don’t force yourself into a checklist.
Just do one thing:
Be with yourself. Gently.
“Slowing down isn’t laziness. It’s giving life the space to reach you.”
If this piece speaks to you, you’ll find it again—this time in my voice and visuals—on TikTok and YouTube.
Next time, I’ll write about: “When was the last time you truly took a deep breath?”
Until then, stay soft.
